Ireland beat Italy in Rugby World Cup Warm up match

Ireland have managed to defeat the Italian Azzurri in a dramatic Rugby World Cup warm up match.

The Italian side was literally ripped apart single handedly by Irish player Ronan O'Gara who scored almost every point for the Irish.

The game came to a dramatic end with the score at 20-16 to Italy, but O'Gara managed to score a try in the dying moments of the match, along with a conversion to put the Full Time Rugby World Cup warm up Score at Ireland 23-20 at Belfast.

The springboks have just managed to be victorious over the Irish Club side Connacht.

The score was very unusual for a team such as the Springboks for a club side, some call the performance by the Springboks their worst this year.

This was South Africa's second last Rugby World Cup warm up match before their games for the Rugby World Cup 2007 officially begin in September next month.

The Springboks played with bad techniques and were very sloppy in all aspects.

Italian coach Pierre Berbizier announced a very experienced side, with back line player Marco Bortolami captaining the side.

Also in the squad is Fijian born player Manoa Vosawai, who plays his rugby in Italy.

Italy have a world ranking of 8 and are put at 1 : 1000 to win the World Cup.

Rugby Wales Captain is defiant after record defeat

The captain of Wales rugby side Gareth Thomas has insisted that his teams loss against England means nothing if the two have to meet in the World Cup. Wales lost by a record margin with the full time score of England 62 - 5 Wales.

The skipper remained headstrong in saying the defeat did not even damage the team psychologically as the line-up was an experimental side.. With only one third of the team being definite players that will be in their 30-man squad which will be announced on the 14th.

Four years ago Wales nearly made two major upsets when they came close to beating New Zealand and the current World Champions England.

Wales are currently ranked 10th in the World, being one of the co-hosts of the World Cup and fancy their chances of making it into the knockout stages with only Australia and Fiji being the two teams that might give them trouble at the World Cup in September.

Mas to stay with French Rugby Squad

French coach Bernade Laporte announced on Friday that the forward Nicolas Mas will stay with the Les Bleus until the World Cup.

The forward was initially told he would be sent home by the end of the week but this changed as French coach explained he wanted his team to practice more scrummaging.

Laporte also announced that Mas might play in one of France's warm-up games leading to the World Cup which starts in September. Their 3 warm-up games include 2 games against England and 1 against Wales in Cardiff.

England has destroyed Wales by a record margin of 57 points! In the first of their three World Cup warm-up matches

The match was played in Twickenham at 3pm today. England, the current World Champions' put on a stellar performance with Jonny Wilkinson kicking 17 points to surpass his 900 point benchmark. And Nick Easter scoring three tries, the first time in a decade that a forward scored a hat-trick!

Wales on the other hand put on a very inexperienced side, with only 1 third of the team being in the final 30 that will be playing in the Rugby World Cup.

England proved a point today, showcasing that they are indeed capable of defending their title.

Irish Coach Trims Side To 37

Irish Rugby Coach, Eddie O'Sullivan has cut down his 48 man squad to just 37 following next weekends test against Scotland.

Ireland is currently ranked 5th in the World and has a realistic chance of winning this year's World Cup in September. O'Sullivan said it would be extremely difficult to cut down his now 37-man-team to a 30 man squad as required by the International Rugby Board.

O'Sullivan said he was very happy with all his players in the past few months and after the test against Scotland on the 11th he will make his final decision.

All 30-man squad's competing in this years Rugby World Cup in France have to be submitted by the 14th of August 2007.

Bismarck Joins Springbok Camp, Spies Out

South African Hooker Bismarck Duplessis has been called with immediate effect to join the Springbok camp in France For the World Cup in September.

His call-up comes due to the pull out of Pierre Spies, who has been ruled out of the World Cup because of blood clots on his lungs. Spies is undergoing further tests to find out the real root of his problem, but Springbok team doctor has announced Spies should not play contact sport for at least 6 months until his condition is resolved.

Duplessis currently plays for the Sharks, and will not be able to play for them until The Rugby World Cup in France is over.
